Abstract

Introduction Several studies across various medical specialties have demonstrated the impact of clinical pharmacy activities. In the field of oncology, which is considered to be at risk for iatrogenic events, pharmaceutical interventions must also be able to contribute to optimizing therapeutic care. Objective The objective of this litera-ture review is to synthesize the available evidence regarding the impact of clinical pharmacy activities on optimizing the care of onco-logy patients. Methodology We conducted a comprehensive litera-ture review in the following databases: PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, using the following keywords: oncology, cancer, hematology, clinical pharmacy, pharmacist, pharmaceutical care, pharmaceutical intervention, impact, chemotherapy, and drug-related problems. Our search covered the period from January 2010 to December 2025. Results A total of 14 studies, conducted bet-ween 2015 and 2025 in nine (09) countries, were included in our review. Prescription/treatment reviews were the most common activity documented in 64.3% of the studies. Clinically, the main pharmacotherapeutic issues identified were underdosing, overdo-sing, and drug interactions. The pharmaceutical interventions im-plemented in response to these issues had a clinical impact rated as moderate to major according to various scales (in 28% to 73.6% of interventions, depending on the study), with some studies reporting a reduction in length of hospital stay. From an economic perspective, savings of up to €390,480 were achieved, and two of the 14 included studies reported a positive impact on anxiety, depression, and social relationships. Conclusion The available data suggest that clinical pharmacy interventions could improve certain clinical, patient-centered, and economic outcomes in oncology.

Keywords : Clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical interventions, oncology.

Keywords (FR) : Pharmacie clinique, interventions pharmaceutiques, oncologie.
